So Gavi it was! That was the result of a day-long discussion and messages on where we must book for our honeymoons. As always I won and we decided to go on a Wonderful Kerala trip to Gavi. Since I saw it in a movie recently, I was so keen on visiting such a place that I kept telling my husband to book a trip to Gavi. He wanted to go to Goa and pretended to hear Goa instead of Gavi! If you are thinking, starting itself we started fighting, just wait! It’s been almost a year to our wedding and so far we had not gone on a so-called ‘honeymoon’ trip. I quit my job a few months before our marriage as we were to go to Singapore where he was on deputation to complete a project. It was only for a few months and hence I managed to tag along with him a week after our wedding. Our Singapore life was not so romantic, you see, my dear husband loves his job more than anything else!!! With his project and deadline and everything else that’s so boring, we rarely got a few weekends to roam around the place. Since one of my cousins was settled in Singapore, we used to hang out often. So it’s with my dear cousin and her family that I have seen most of the Singapore than with my husband, and the deal was that he takes me on a honeymoon trip with strictly no office calls to a place I want to go! And now that we are back in Bangalore after the successful completion of his project, his next mission, to keep his wife happy, starts. Thus, we planned our Best Kerala trip from Bangalore for honeymoon holidays.
We reached Kochi International Airport and from there the tour manager had arranged a good car for us to take you to Gavi and we were to retain him throughout the tour of 5 days there. As we landed in Kerala, it was drizzling a little, since we chose the best time to experience Kerala during the month of August when the rains had not yet receded but they were not as strong too. Everything around us looked fresh and green. That was the best thing about Kerala trip Packages! We went via Thodupuzha where we stopped by to have our lunch and also stopped by some beautiful places which I had seen in some Malayalam movies. Now if you are wondering how I watch Malayalam movies, my father worked in Kerala for a couple of years when I was in 7th and 8th and I learned the language which was required to survive in the rural area we lived. Somehow I developed a liking to Malayalam movies which I watch on TV or the Internet whenever I got time. As such, since I was not working, I had plenty of time to spare and this was one of my hobbies too!!! Lucky me, right? Ok, so let’s go on with our tour. We reached Thekkadi a little before 5pm because of our love for nature and photographs. We checked into our beautiful resort which was the Spice Village. It was beautiful, lots of woodwork and thatched roof cottages with bamboo and wooden furniture. It looked classic. Ours had a hammock hung outside which was perfect for a relaxing nap. We got fresh and enjoyed a walk around the resort which was very beautifully conceived and constructed keeping intact the greenery around and many trees. We met a small family with a cute baby and spoke to them too and found out that they were on a Kerala Trip from Mumbai and had planned to move on to Munnar from here. We had a delicious dinner just the way we liked, spicy and wholesome.
The next day early morning, we had a typical Kerala breakfast of Puttu and Kadala or Brown Channa in coconut gravy. It was a little spicy but too good to be missed. So we filled our stomach with Puttu and Kadala and moved ahead to Gavi. We realized that Gavi did not let the tourists stay back overnight and there were no good arrangements as the one we were staying. So we decided to take day tours for a couple of days and then come back to our room here. Since we loved the ambiance here we were happy with the plan. So day 1 at Gavi went stunningly. If Thekkadi is green, Gavi is the greenest! We enjoyed boating on the lake and a nature walk in Gavi. It is a small town with some plantations and a lot of untouched nature to offer the tourists. The place is famous for eco-tourism and wildlife safari. It was a secluded place just perfect for Kerala Honeymoon Packages. We enjoyed the nature walk where we saw many new kinds of colorful birds. After boating, we went to Chenthamara Kokka and Valley View which gave us some stunning images to capture. We realized that we could even take a night camping option and spend a night in a tent in the dense tropical forests. So that day we went back to our Spice Village resort and packed our backpacks for our day and night trekking trail and camping at Gavi. The hills and valleys around offer the unmatched beauty of nature.
The night camping was pretty cool. Though the arrangements were all made by the tour operator and they even provided the gears and equipment for our overnight stay. All these come along with the guide who helped us set up the tent. We spent the night on top of a hill watching the star-lit sky. We could hear some elephant’s cry far in the forests but always knew that we were way off their usual trails. A day and night in the forest refreshed our body and mind alike. We went back to our resort by evening only to return the next day early morning to visit a cardamom plantation which left us totally spell-bound. A visit to the paradise cove at Ninnumulli completed our Amazing Family trip to Kerala.
